The Set up of 6th pay commission was approved by the cabinet in July, 2006. For a proper session of 18 months, the commission is working under the guidance of Justice B.N Srikrishna. Anticipation is being made to a limit of Rs 20000 crores for maximum of 5.5 million of government which is totally based on the speculation made by sixth pay commission.   The due report of sixth pay commission was handed over in March and April end, 2008.  There was a sort of threatening that was provided to the government regarding the issue of not raising the salaries in the form of national strike. The main reason behind the employees asking a percentage increase in their salary lies in the increasing inflation which is majorly in private sector and is the resultant from Globalization.  The activity of salary being underpaid is a normal can be easily seen through the case of a25 year’s experienced IAS officer who is receiving a salary of Rs 55000 as his basic salary. The arrears are due from July 2006 to that of September 2008. Majority of government employees have already received an amount of salary in the year 2008 and the accruing salary they were given in year 2009.  The major focus of 6th pay commission was towards removing the ambiguity in terms of payment being made in terms of pay bands.
